Dirk Charles Hamilton (Hobart, August 31, 1949 ) is an American musician and singer/ songwriter.

He was born in Hobart, Indiana but grew up in Stockton, California, where he quickly learned to play the guitar. He began writing songs and giving concerts during his high school years. After moving to Los Angeles , from 1976 to 1980 he produced four albums that received excellent evaluation, especially from critics. Two of them were recorded for the ABC Records label , the other two for Elektra Records / Asylum Records. His style cannot be attributed to a specific genre, but can be said to be located mainly between folk and rock. He is often compared especially to Van Morrison; but also to Loudon Wainwright III, John Hiatt and Bob Dylan. (More)
