I just ran into my vinyl copy of Yellowjackets’s 1987 album Four Corners. It changed my life. It was the most satisfying fusion jazz I ever heard. It sounded like a big band group. I used to listen to Spyrogyra, but not anymore after this album. Marc Russo”s Saxophone reached my bone marrow. This was before Kenny G. Before then I was a Grover Washington Jr. fan. I have followed them ever since. I love their collaborations with Brenda Russell and Michael Franks.
