According the booklet: The Sheffield Track Record is designed as a test record to present the absolute maximum amount of signal to a high fidelity system to demonstrate of different components. Producer/engineer Bill Schnee specifically sought to capture the instruments that are the heart of rock music, the drum set and the electric bass.
