1976 Rhythm Heritage – Baretta’s Theme (Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow) (US:#20)
Baretta was an American detective television series which ran on ABC from 1975 to 1978. The show was a revised milder version of a 1973–74 ABC series, Toma, starring Tony Musante as chameleon-like, real-life New Jersey police officer David Toma. When Musante left the series after a single season, the concept was retooled as Baretta, with Robert Blake in the title role.
Rhythm Heritage was a 1970s American disco-funk band, best known for their 1976 US #1 single “Theme from S.W.A.T.“. It sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold disc by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in February 1976. They also recorded theme music for several other ABC television shows, including “Barreta’s Them (Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow),” also from 1976, from Baretta (sung by Sammy Davis Jr.)
