Producer Joey Carbone had an idea, he thought it could be funny to bring some of the best male west coast music singers together and make a album. The project under the name West Coast All Stars was realised the same summer with four incredible vocalists: Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff from Chicago and Bobby Kimball and Joseph Williams from Toto. Their first album called California Dreamin’ contains a capella versions of classic songs from Mamas & Papas, Eagles, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Doobie Brothers, Boz Scaggs, America etc. and one original song ‘Shine One Me’. The only instrument used in the recording of this album was the human voice. All vocals were performed by the members who also created their vocal interpretations of guitar solos, sax, bass guitar, drums and percussion.
