1977 Jeff Lorber Fusion – Jeff Lorber Fusion

The Jeff Lorber Fusion is the debut album by keyboardist Jeff Lorber as leader of his band “The Jeff Lorber Fusion.”

Jeff Lorber on Instagram: Recorded on a 16 track 2”
Machine. Co produced by Harry Callow, who was my boss at the record store I was working at at the time. The early band with Dennis Bradford, drums, Terry Layne from the Stan Kenton band on alto sax, Lester McFarland on bass engineered by Dave Dixon, who kind of gave my start by allowing me to get into the studio and learn how to record. The studio owner, Gene Breeden, deserves a shout out for his generosity helping me out. The studio recorded almost exclusively country music so my brand of jazz fusion was certainly my unusual for Ripcord Studios in Vancouver Washington.

One more thing about this record: all we had for effects during the mix was an EMT plate and maybe the 1/4” two track for delay. Any synthesizers that were used were borrowed from Orval Goodwin/ Eddie’s Music, and quickly returned in case somebody walked into the store and wanted to buy them.
