1978 Gino Vannelli – Brother To Brother
Brother To Brother is the sixth studio album by Canadian singer Gino Vannelli. Despite its success – the biggest of Vannelli’s career – it was also his last for A&M Records. The album was released in 1978 and featured “I Just Wanna Stop”, Vannelli’s highest-charting single to date in both the US and Canada, where the single reached #4 and #1 respectively. Two other singles were released from the LP, “Wheels of Life” (U.S. #78, Canada #31), and “The River Must Flow” (Canada #80).

This album STILL holds up! From the kick drum to the BG vocals, to the arrangements, to the man himself, the caliber of musicianship on this project is fkn SICK!! And the freedom they gave these musicians to stretch & play??, was simply unselfish, ingenious generosity that made the project sore above everything made that year & THEN some! Itβs an inspirational hella fun sonic ride from ballad to groove. And I thank everyone involved for the gift of this forever young gift.π―π―ππΏππΏππΏππΏππΏππΏ!!!

I concur! And no one has ever outdone the late Mark Craney’s drum work on the title cut, Brother to Brother and the rest of the entire album as well. I really miss his amazing talent and can’t help but feel we got cheated when we lost him. There’s no telling what he would have accomplished had he lived. Just like so many others… Jaco Pastorius, Duane Allman oh that list is heartbreaking way too long to try to cover but we all have our favorites that we will never forget. I saw Jethro Tull in the 80s and Ian Anderson was a phenom! He had these HUGE pink bubbles he would balance on his forehead while he played his flute, then he’d bump them up into the air and pop them with the flute and pink glittery smoke came out of them.lol One of the wildest and best shows I ever saw!
