1997 Nicky Gebhard & Gee Fresh – No Cry, Just Music

Nicky Gebhard (born July 5, 1952 in Berlin ) is a German drummer , author , composer , music pedagogue and journalist .

Gebhard began his studies in music in Dortmund ( drums and piano ) in 1971. During this time, he worked as a freelance musician and arranger at the Stadttheater in Dortmund . Gebhard became a drummer in various jazz and rock bands , including Günther Boas Band , Zoppo Trump , Meyer’s Poporchester and Günter Hoffmann Band .

In 1974, Gebhard moved to the Musikhochschule in Cologne to study with Christoph Caskel. He also worked as a stage musician at the Theater in Cologne, Bochum and as a studiomusician at the WDR . During his studies, he toured Europe with the Wallenstein rock band from 1974 to 1978 and drummed on the album “No more love” in 1976. Other productions followed with the MEKBilk rock theater (Nett und Adrett, 1982) The TV show at ” Bio’s Bahnhof ” in 1981 and the Alex Parche Project (1991).

On his three solo CDs “Gee Fresh” (1996), “No Cry Just Music” (1997) and “Freedom Live” (2008), Nicky collaborates with Steve Lukather , Steve Stevens , Bill Evans and Martin Verdonk . In some documentary films on 3sat , ARTE , BR and WDR , Gebhard’s compositions are used as the film music by the first Gee Fresh production. In 1974, he founded the percussion ensemble Mönchengladbach and remained head of the formation until 1997. As a music journalist and photographer , Gebhard leads more than 200 interviews with drummer-greats in the world for specialist magazines such as drums & percussion , journal, drums , live music artist, batteur, rhythm magazine or drums USA. His interviewees were Elvin Jones , Tony Williams , Mitch Mitchell , Billy Cobham , Vinnie Colaiuta , Terry Bozzio , Chad Wackerman , Omar Hakim , Adam Nussbaum , Simon Phillips and Airto .
