1981 Paul Davis – Cool Night
Cool Night is the seventh and final studio album by singer/songwriter Paul Davis. It was his highest-charting album in the United States, reaching #52 on the Billboard album chart, and yielded three top-40 singles, “Cool Night”, “’65 Love Affair”, and “Love or Let Me Be Lonely”. The third was a remake of a song by The Friends of Distinction. This album was the first album to be both recorded and mixed digitally.
“Cool Night” released as a single in 1981, from the album of the same name. The single peaked at No. 11 on the U.S. pop chart and reached No. 2 on the adult contemporary chart in January 1982.

[…] The album was a mediocre commercial success, although today is the album by far best known of Joseph Williams, on the album there are many musicians in the American rock scene, among them also former band mates in Toto Steve Porcaro, Bobby Kimball, Mike Porcaro and Lenny Castro, among former comrades also included Jeff Porcaro of Toto, who had recorded the drum parts of the song I Am Alive, which was written and recorded a few years earlier, whereas the composition of the text dates back at the time when they were engaged in Toto the Seventh One World Tour. Among the other guests are Michael Landau, James Harrah, Joey Carbone, Mark Goldenberg, Michael Thompson, Bill Champlin, Danny Peck, Katy Segal, Paul Gordon and Jason Scheff.
